Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Leemen app and backend services. By using Leemen, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

1 · Acceptance

By downloading, accessing, or using Leemen, you accept these Terms of Service. You agree not to use the service for spam, deception, harassment, promotion of violence, or any unlawful purpose.

2 · Who we are

The Leemen app is built and operated by Leemen Software, TOO (Kazakhstan LLP), referred to here as “we”. Leemen is an independent Telegram client: it uses Telegram’s API and is part of the Telegram ecosystem, but is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Telegram. “Telegram” is a trademark of its owner, used here only to describe what Leemen works with. Your use of Telegram itself remains governed by Telegram’s own terms.

3 · The service

Leemen is a privacy-focused messaging client with optional paid features and an encrypted cross-device sync of certain app settings. Our backend stores only account metadata, device records, subscription status, and your encrypted sync data — it never stores your messages, chats, contacts, media, or Telegram session. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features over time.

4 · Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live. If you are a minor, you may use Leemen only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

5 · Your account

Your Leemen account is anchored to your Telegram identity and, optionally, a recovery email. You are responsible for keeping access to those credentials. In maximum-privacy mode, your password and recovery phrase are the only way to unlock your synced data — if you lose both, that data cannot be recovered. Don’t share your account; we may suspend accounts used in breach of these terms.

6 · Subscriptions & billing

Leemen may offer optional paid features as an auto-renewing subscription. In most regions it is sold through your app store; where app-store billing is unavailable (for example, Russia), it is sold instead through Tribute (tribute.tg). It renews automatically unless you cancel before the current period ends. Billing, taxes, and payment terms are handled by whichever provider processed your purchase (your app store or Tribute), not by Leemen.

7 · Cancellation & refunds

You can cancel anytime — in your app store’s subscription settings, or, for Tribute purchases, through Tribute. Cancellation stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled by whichever provider processed your purchase (your app store or Tribute) under its policies.

8 · Premium features

Paid features are described in the app and may change over time; we don’t warrant that any specific feature remains available indefinitely.

9 · Acceptable use

Don’t use Leemen to break the law, infringe others’ rights, transmit spam or malware, harass or abuse others, disrupt or attack the service or its infrastructure, or attempt to circumvent payment, authentication, or access controls. The Leemen client is open-source and you may inspect and modify it, but you may not attack or abuse the backend API. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.

10 · Open-source & intellectual property

The Leemen client is open-source software, released under the GNU General Public License, version 2 (GPLv2) — the full licence text ships with the source code, and that licence, not these terms, governs what you may do with the code. You may use, modify, and share the client, including your own modified builds, to the full extent GPLv2 allows.

Two things stay ours and aren’t covered by that licence: the “Leemen” name and logo, and the Leemen backend service. Whether or not we’ve registered them as a trademark in your country, please don’t use the Leemen name or logo in a way that suggests your build is the official Leemen or is made or endorsed by us — a modified build must make clear it’s your own version. We grant you a personal, non-transferable permission to use the hosted backend service, which we can withdraw under “Termination” above; ending your access to the service never affects your rights in the open-source code.

11 · Privacy, analytics & push

Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy. In short: we offer a default mode (your encryption key is kept on our backend in protected form, so we are technically able to decrypt your sync data) and an opt-in maximum-privacy mode (your key never leaves your device, so we cannot decrypt it). We collect product analytics — and record which campaign brought you — only if you turn these on (both are off by default); analytics is keyed to a random install identifier that is not linked to your identity, with no message content. Push notifications are delivered directly by Telegram via the platform’s push service and do not pass through Leemen’s backend.

12 · Disclaimers

Leemen is provided “as available”, and we can’t promise the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure against every threat. If you pay for premium features, the law gives you rights that those paid features be of satisfactory quality, fit for the purpose we describe, and as described — those rights always apply and we don’t try to take them away. We’re not responsible for problems caused by your own device or network, or by third-party services such as your app store or Telegram.

13 · Limitation of liability

We’re responsible to you for loss we cause by breaking these terms or by failing to take reasonable care. We aren’t liable for losses that neither of us could reasonably have foreseen when you started using Leemen, for losses we didn’t cause, or for losses connected with running a business (such as lost profits or lost commercial opportunities) — but if you tell us about a particular risk and we then cause that loss by our own fault, this doesn’t shield us.

Some responsibilities can never be signed away, and we don’t try to. Whatever else these terms say, we remain fully responsible for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; for paid features, the rights that they be of satisfactory quality, fit for the purpose we describe, and as described; and anything else the law where you live does not allow us to exclude or limit. Where a term in these terms would go further than that law allows, it applies only as far as the law permits, and no further — the rest keep working.

14 · Termination

You may stop using Leemen and delete your account at any time; deletion is immediate and irreversible. If you break these terms, we may suspend or close your account — but our response will be proportionate to what happened. Except where the law requires immediate action or there’s a serious or repeated breach (such as attacking our backend, fraud, or illegal use), we’ll first warn you and give you a reasonable chance to put things right. If we close a paid account for reasons that aren’t your fault — including to comply with the law or because we stop offering the service — we’ll refund the unused part of your subscription (where your app store handles refunds, we’ll help you obtain it). You can email support@leemen.app to query a suspension or closure.

15 · Changes

We may update these terms, pricing, or features — for example to reflect new features, security needs, changes in our costs, or changes in the law. If a change is to your disadvantage (including any price increase or a reduction in what a paid feature does), we’ll tell you in the app or here at least 30 days before it takes effect and explain what’s changing, and you can cancel before then without penalty; you keep what you already paid for to the end of the period. We won’t change the core of a paid subscription you’ve already bought for the current period. Minor changes that don’t disadvantage you take effect when posted.

16 · Governing law & disputes

These terms, and any dispute about them or about Leemen, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the courts of Kazakhstan have jurisdiction. None of this takes away protections you have under the law of the country where you live: if you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any rights that the law there gives you and that cannot be signed away, and you can always bring a claim — and can require us to bring any claim against you — in the courts where you live. Where the law of your country lets you choose, you may also use the Kazakhstan courts.

17 · General

If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the rest remain in full force. These terms together with the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Leemen regarding the service and supersede any prior understanding.
